New Feltham Hill Children’s Centre Day Nursery opens January 2008

Middlesex based childcare chain; Once Upon a Time Day Nurseries, announce the opening of its all-new 35 place setting – part of the new Children’s Centre, located at Feltham Hill Junior School. It has been created by a government programme devised to deliver the best start in life for every child. The Centre brings together, early education, childcare, health and family support.

The new nursery, conveniently located in Ashford Road; less than a mile from Feltham town centre and Heathrow Link Train Station, offers parents and carers who live, work or commute locally with quality, flexible and affordable childcare for children aged from 3 months to 5 years.

Scheduled to open at 7:45am, Monday January 14th 2008, the children will have access to a wide range of inspirational and educational activity areas, both indoors and outdoors, which have been expertly designed to enable them to understand the world around them and learn to confidently communicate with each other.

Inside, the activities for each age-related area of the new building are designed by Community Playthings and provide a Baby Zone which offers babies/toddlers socialisation and high quality play opportunities, Art, .Home Corner; Book Corner and Construction and Technology areas. All activities are easily accessible and are designed very much with the child's needs in mind. This is in keeping with the nursery’s implementation of the “High/Scope” philosophy; a learning system based on the children planning and implementing their own play. Nursery staff support this by clear picture and word labelling on the equipment together with encouragement, communication and interaction during the children's play. The children's work will be utilised to make bright and colourful displays within the setting.

Outside, the garden area is fully fenced off to ensure security and safety for the children whilst playing. The garden play area will have a large range of bikes, scooters, trikes etc. and areas will be created for children to explore nature and mini-beasts.

Each child is assigned a Key Worker, a member of the nursery’s team of experienced and highly qualified staff, who plan activities around their group's individual needs and completes a Development Pack based on the Birth to Three or the new Early Years Foundation Stage 0-5 curriculum. They also maintain a weekly Homelink Book to advise parents/carers of the activities and events they have participated in. Each child is given their own unique symbol to help them identify their personal belongings; they also have access to a range of ICT equipment including digital cameras and a laptop computer.

The Nursery provides a healthy, well balanced and varied menu. Fresh fruit and vegetables are provided on a daily basis. They cater for the children's dietary and/or religious requirements.
